Funded by FIT and our donors, explore how the CPAR project, Remote Ultrasound Antenatal Care Access (RUAA), is transforming healthcare in rural Ethiopia where access to OB/GYN physicians is limited.
In rural Ethiopia, many women lacked prenatal care, endangering childbirth. With support from the Fund for Innovation and Transformation and our donors, CPAR acted. We provided ultrasound equipment, enhanced internet connectivity, and trained healthcare workers.
By 2023, over 6,000 mothers-to-be received ultrasounds, significantly improving prenatal care access. The Zonal Health Authority continues to champion the program, and our joint review with Canadian and Ethiopian academics has been published in the Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare.
